Gold coin of Wima Kaphises to be Auctioned

One of the most important dynasties in India was Kushans, who changed the shape of political history in India. Kushans were one of the five branches of the Yuezhi confederation, a nomadic tribe of people who migrated from Tarim Basin (modern Xinjiang) and settled in ancient Bactria.The founder of the Kushan dynasty is Kujula Kadphises. Almost all the rulers issued coins in various styles and innovations.
One of the most wonderful coins of Wima Kadphises (c. 113-127 AD) will be offered at the Classical Numismatic Galley auction. The Gold coin weighs around 2.0 gms.
The obverse of the coin depicts the bust of the ruling king in a square frame and Bactrian legend BACILEO…(PhI)SES is depicted around it. While the reverse has a trident with a battle axe and an erect Linga standing between tamgha and Nandipada. Kharoshthi legend, ‘Maharaja Rajadhiraja Wema Kataphishasa' is inscribed around it.
